Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about Lingu English — how live classes work, levels, pricing, and what to expect.
What is Lingu?
Lingu is an online English-learning platform for adult learners. We combine live online classes taught by qualified teachers with structured self-study courses and a global community, covering everything from beginner (A1) to advanced (C2) levels.
Who is Lingu English for?
Lingu English is for adults who want to improve their everyday, academic, or professional English. Most learners are working adults preparing for international workplaces, university study abroad, exams such as IELTS or Cambridge, or simply more confident conversation in English.
What English levels does Lingu teach?
We teach across the full CEFR range — from A1 (beginner) to C2 (proficient). When you join, a placement check and an optional onboarding conversation with a teacher help us recommend the right starting level and program.
Does Lingu use live teachers or self-study?
Both. Live online classes with qualified English teachers sit at the centre of Lingu English. Structured self-study lessons and exercises run alongside them, so you can keep progressing between live sessions.
How much does Lingu cost?
Prices vary by program and class format. Live group programs and individual courses each have their own pricing — see the program or course page for the current price, currency, and what is included. There is no long-term contract: most options are billed per program or per course.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. You can try Lingu English before committing to a paid program. Free trial details are shown on each program page; if you are unsure where to start, the contact form on lingu.com will route you to a teacher who can help.
Will I get a certificate?
You receive a Lingu certificate of completion for finished programs and most courses. Lingu certificates are not a substitute for state exams such as IELTS or Cambridge, but they document the level, hours, and content you completed and are widely accepted as evidence of professional development.
What languages of instruction does Lingu use?
Lingu English classes are taught in English. Teachers adapt their language to your level so beginner classes are fully accessible, and they will explain in English with carefully chosen vocabulary rather than translating into another language.
Where is Lingu based?
The Lingu English service at lingu.com is operated by Lingu Ltd (formerly Perfectly Spoken Ltd), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 09197891), based in Brentwood, Essex, United Kingdom. Lingu serves learners worldwide online.
Can I cancel or get a refund?
Cancellation and refund terms are described in the terms and conditions you accept at checkout, and they depend on whether you bought a self-study course, an individual live course, or a multi-course program. For specific cases, write to [email protected].
Still have a question?
